José Gonçalves teaches Physics and Chemistry to students ranging in age from 12 to 18.

José is an active user of resources from ISE and Go-Lab and participates regularly in ISE activities in Portugal. He also is Galileo Teacher Training Program Ambassador and actively participate in competitions, meetings and training programmes such as the Dark Sky Rangers competition, the Astronomy Education Alliance Meeting, CERN High School Teacher Training Program 2012.

He also submitted and entry to the ISE Learning Scenario Competition 2015-6, which was considered to be one of the top 7 entries to the competition by the judges. As a finalist, José took part in the Inspiring Science Education Conference 2016 in Athens on 22-24 April 2016 where the overall winner of the competition was announced.

José’s entry to the competition is called "A cor dos objetos” (The color of the objects). Describing his entry José says: 

This scenario was created to perform a hands on activity and a virtual simulation related to light and colour perception. The objective is that students understand that the object's colour depends on the material, incident light and the receptor of light. It is for students between 12 and 14 years old. The topic is related to light reflection, so the students need to know about it.
