DIY Astronautics for Students – 5th annual Contest about to begin
Do you have an idea for a science experiment? Would you like to build your experiment and fly it on a stratospheric balloon? Then this contest is for you.
Asgard stratospheric weather balloons reach altitudes of 30-35km where conditions are similar to those in space. For the fifth year running Sint-Pieterscollege in Jette and ESERO are partnering to run the contest aimed at small teams of students. A call for experiment proposals will be sent out shortly after which 10 experiments will be selected by a jury of experts including Dirk Frimout, Belgium’s first astronaut. The ten successful teams will have just over 4 months to build and test before the exciting launch in April 2015.
